Achieving the Goal
8 cardsCategory: Career & Profession
The Chariot spread about overcoming obstacles on the path to your goal.
Overview
The 'Achieving the Goal, or the Chariot' spread is designed to reflect on what our goals are, the roles and masks we adopt to achieve them, and to analyze the steps toward those goals, the obstacles and the aids. You can enrich the spread by adding your own positions beyond the ones described, continuing the dialogue with Tarot.

The Black Sphinx
The Black Sphinx -- the force that opposes the querent, what to beware of or what to pay attention to.
The Canopy
The Canopy -- the maternal counsel of Tarot, as if a mother gave it.
How to Read
Shuffle the deck while focusing on your goal. Draw 8 cards. Card 8 at the top -- the canopy (Tarot's counsel). Card 1 below it -- the charioteer (your role). To the left of the charioteer -- card 7 (black sphinx, obstacle), to the right -- card 6 (white sphinx, help). Downward from the charioteer is the path: cards 3, 4, 5 -- three steps toward the goal. At the bottom -- card 2 (the goal itself). Read from top to bottom: from higher counsel through your role and opposing forces along the steps to the goal.
Tips & Advice
The spread mirrors the structure of 'The Chariot' card: the canopy above (card 8) -- protection and higher counsel, the charioteer (card 1) -- you and your mask. The two sphinxes (6 and 7) show the balance of forces: if the white sphinx is stronger -- the path is favorable, if the black -- you will face serious resistance. The three steps (3, 4, 5) should be read sequentially as an action plan. Note: the goal (card 2) at the bottom may differ from what you expected -- Tarot sometimes reveals the true goal, not the declared one.
