Exam

9 cards

Category: Education & Travel

Evaluates preparation, strengths and weaknesses, and the likely outcome of an exam.

Overview

This spread can be used with great success when the querent is facing an exam that is meant to summarize their acquired knowledge or degree of mastery in a given subject, regardless of whether it is a school exam, a state exam, or any other kind. The spread helps to evaluate the level of preparation, potential difficulties during the exam, external factors, and the final result. The significator card in the center of the top row represents the querent themselves and their current state before the exam.

Card Positions

S

Significator

The card representing the querent themselves. It reflects their current state, mindset, and inner readiness for the exam. It reveals the frame of mind in which the person approaches this important event.

1

Are my knowledge sufficient?

This position shows how deeply and thoroughly the querent has mastered the material. The card reveals whether there are gaps in knowledge, whether the preparation is sufficient for passing the exam successfully, or whether more attention should be given to certain topics.

2

Will the examiner be negatively disposed?

This position reveals the examiner's attitude toward the querent. The card shows whether the examiner will be favorably and objectively disposed, or whether one should expect bias, strictness, or other difficulties in dealing with them.

3

Do I need to expand my knowledge further?

The card indicates whether it is worth continuing preparation and deepening one's knowledge before the exam, or whether existing knowledge is already sufficient. It may suggest in which direction additional effort should be applied.

4

Can I rely on cheat sheets?

This position shows whether it makes sense to rely on auxiliary materials (cheat sheets, notes, hints). The card may indicate whether it will be possible to use them unnoticed, or whether this will create additional problems and risks.

5

Can I rely on friends' help?

The card shows how realistic it is to receive help from friends, classmates, or acquaintances during the exam. It reveals whether those around are ready to support the querent, and whether this help will truly be useful.

6

Will I pass the exam?

The key position of the spread. The card gives a direct answer to the main question — whether the querent will pass the exam or not. Positive cards indicate success, negative ones suggest possible failure or the need for a retake.

7

What grade will I get on the exam?

This position clarifies not only the fact of passing, but also the quality of the result. The card suggests whether to expect a high grade, an average result, or a minimum passing score. Major Arcana cards usually indicate a more significant result.

8

What will this bring me in the future?

The final card of the spread shows the long-term consequences of the exam. It reveals how the exam result will affect the querent's future life — whether new opportunities will open up, whether the career path will change, or whether this exam will prove to be merely an intermediate stage.

How to Read

Shuffle the deck while focusing on the upcoming exam. Choose a significator card that represents you and place it in the center of the top row (position S). Then draw 8 cards and lay them out according to the diagram: cards 1 and 3 on either side of the significator (top row), cards 4, 2, 5 — middle row (left to right), card 6 — center below, cards 7 and 8 — bottom row on the sides. Read the spread from top to bottom: first assess preparation (1, 3), then external factors (2, 4, 5), then the main answer (6), and the outcome (7, 8).

Tips & Advice

Pay special attention to card 6 — it is central to this spread and gives a direct answer to the question about passing the exam. Cards 1 and 3 should be considered together: the first speaks about the current level of knowledge, the third — about the need for additional preparation. If both cards are positive — the preparation is sufficient. Cards 4 and 5 describe external help: if they are negative — it is better to rely only on your own abilities. Cards 7 and 8 show not only the grade, but also the perspective: even with an average result, card 8 may point to excellent opportunities in the future.
