School Choice
9 cardsCategory: Education & Travel
Helps choose the right educational institution and field of study.
Overview
This is no easy problem. Especially since teachers will never officially say anything bad about their school, school websites simply radiate optimism, and students' opinions are not always objective. This spread is divided into two groups: cards 1–4 describe the school itself (student body, teachers, atmosphere, prospects), and cards 5–8 — the child in that school (comfort, peer influence, knowledge, future). Card 9 in the center gives the final advice — whether this particular school is the right choice.

Card Positions
Student body
The overall social level of students, the prevailing mentality. The card shows what kind of children study at this school and what atmosphere prevails among students. Possible problems with drugs, drinking, or other negative phenomena.
Teacher professionalism
The quality of knowledge provided, the level of the teaching staff. The card reveals how competent the teachers are, whether they are interested in their students' success, and whether they employ modern teaching methods.
Emotional atmosphere of the school
The overall energy of the school, its emotional atmosphere, feng shui and everything of that sort. The card describes how comfortable it is to be within the walls of this educational institution, what kind of energy it carries — constructive or destructive.
School's future prospects
Whether the school will maintain its standards or decline in a couple of years. The card shows the dynamics of the institution's development — whether its prestige is growing, its reputation strengthening, or whether a decline and drop in education quality should be expected.
Child's emotional comfort
Whether the child will fit into the group, find true friends, and in general, whether they will be happy at this school. The card reveals the child's emotional state in this environment, their sense of belonging and security.
Influence of peers and friends
What influence the child's school friends and peer group will have. The card shows whether this influence will be positive — motivating learning and development, or negative — distracting, provoking bad behavior.
Quality of acquired knowledge
How high-quality the knowledge the child will receive at this school will be. The card evaluates the actual result of education — whether the knowledge will be deep and practically applicable, or superficial and formal.
Child's prospects after school
The child's future prospects after graduating from this school. The card shows which doors this education will open or close — university admission, career opportunities, overall personal development.
Final advice
The central card of the spread that gives the final advice — whether this particular school is the right choice for the child. It summarizes all aspects shown by the other cards and delivers an overall verdict. A positive card means a definite 'yes,' a negative one — a serious reason to consider alternatives.
How to Read
Shuffle the deck while focusing on the specific school you are considering. Draw 9 cards and lay them out according to the diagram: cards 1 and 2 — upper left corner (school, top row), cards 5 and 6 — upper right corner (child, top row), card 9 — in the center, cards 3 and 4 — lower left corner (school, bottom row), cards 7 and 8 — lower right corner (child, bottom row). First read the left group (1–4) — this is the school's profile. Then the right group (5–8) — the child's prospects. Finally — card 9 as the overall advice.
Tips & Advice
The spread logically divides into two halves: left (1–4) is about the school, right (5–8) is about the child. Compare them: if the school looks good (1–4 positive) but the child will be uncomfortable there (5–8 negative) — this signals that prestige does not guarantee happiness. Pay special attention to card 6 (peer influence) — at school age, the social environment is often more important than the curriculum. Cards 4 and 8 show prospects: if both are positive — the choice is good for the long term. If you are considering multiple schools — do the spread for each one and compare the final cards (9).
