Tourist Trip

9 cards

Category: Education & Travel

A spread for planning a tourist trip.

Overview

Not all trips are associated with radical changes and serious matters. Sometimes we travel simply for pleasure, to see interesting places or visit exotic countries. To avoid going blindly and to know in advance how the trip will go and whether it is worth taking, you can lay out this spread. It covers all aspects of the journey — from the very possibility of the trip to the impressions and return home. The significator card in the center represents the traveler themselves.

Card Positions

S

Significator

The card representing the querent themselves — the traveler. It reflects their current state, mood, and expectations for the trip. It reveals the person's readiness for travel and their inner attitude toward the upcoming journey.

1

Will the trip take place?

The card answers the main question — whether the trip will take place at all. It shows whether there are objective obstacles that could prevent the journey, or whether everything is falling into place favorably for departure.

2

How will the trip go?

The overall character of the trip. The card describes how the journey will unfold — calmly and steadily, dynamically and eventfully, or with difficulties and unforeseen circumstances. It sets the overall tone for the entire trip.

3

Will it bring me pleasure?

The card shows whether the querent will enjoy the trip. It reveals the emotional return of the journey — whether it will be a true rest for the soul, or whether the trip will turn into disappointment and fatigue.

4

What troubles may arise?

The card warns about possible troubles during the trip. These may include problems with transportation, accommodation, weather, health, loss of belongings or documents. If the card is positive — no serious problems are foreseen.

5

What impressions will I get?

The card describes the impressions the querent will get from the trip. It reveals whether they will be vivid and unforgettable, or whether the trip will turn out bland and boring. This position is especially important for tourist travel.

6

Will I meet interesting people?

The card shows whether interesting encounters await the querent during the journey. These may be fleeting meetings or the beginning of important friendships or romantic relationships. A negative card suggests the trip will be rather solitary.

7

What will the return be like?

The card describes what the return home will be like. It shows whether the journey back will go smoothly, whether the querent will return rested and content, or whether the return will be overshadowed by circumstances — fatigue, delays, sadness.

8

Outcome: what will I gain from the trip?

The final card of the spread. It summarizes the entire trip and shows what the querent will ultimately gain from it — new experience, rest, inspiration, or whether the trip will prove to be a waste of time and money. A positive card means the trip is worth it.

How to Read

Shuffle the deck while focusing on the upcoming trip. Choose a significator card and place it in the center (position S). Then draw 8 cards: cards 1 and 2 — upper left block (first row), cards 3 and 4 — below them (second row). Cards 5 and 6 — lower right block (first row), cards 7 and 8 — below them (second row). The left block (1–4) describes the beginning and course of the trip, the right block (5–8) — impressions, encounters, return, and outcome. The significator in the center connects both parts.

Tips & Advice

The spread is visually divided into two blocks connected by the significator. The upper left block (1–4) represents 'before and during' the trip, the lower right (5–8) — 'impressions and after.' If cards 1–2 are positive but 3–4 are negative — the trip will happen but with troubles. Card 4 is especially important — it warns of specific risks that can be prepared for in advance. Compare cards 3 and 5: if pleasure (3) is modest but impressions (5) are vivid — the trip may be challenging but memorable. Card 8 as the outcome will help make the final decision — to go or not.
