Birth Date Numerology

The day of birth is the main part of the date. It is responsible for character and for what childhood was like, and along with that — for the past incarnation and for what a person brings out of it: inclinations, a craft, an attitude to work.

It is read as a general frame — much the way a zodiac sign is read in astrology: it describes a tendency, not the whole person. Character is made up of many numbers, and no one of them cancels out the rest.

The same arcanum can come from different days: for those born on the 1st and on the 23rd it coincides (23 − 22 = 1), but their ruling planets are different, and that shows in the character.

This is the positive part of the calculation — what a person starts from and can lean on, not a list of their limitations.

The comfort zone is the environment in which a person opens up most fully. Not the one where they are at ease and nothing happens, but the one where strength and confidence come back to them.

The point of the calculation is to separate what is one's own from what has been imposed. Much of what a person takes to be their calling or their duty in fact came from outside: from the family, from school, from what "is done" for men and for women. The calculation does not argue with those roles — it simply shows where a person is genuinely replenished and where they are spent.

Hence its weight. Without the support of one's own zone nothing gets started — neither a difficult undertaking, nor the conversation a person keeps avoiding, nor the risk they would otherwise never dare take. That is precisely why it stands at the centre of the "Crystal of Destiny".

There is an age-related point as well: the older a person is, the more layers of what belongs to others lie over what is their own, and the more useful it is to check.

The second — when the goal has been reached and the person decides there is nowhere further to go; by this logic what was achieved was a step, not a summit.

DT, MT and GT are steps towards that same task, and there is no need to pass through them in order: one can concentrate on the task directly. The task is most easily carried out through a profession — but it does not reduce to one.

The system connects a person's physical well-being to this as well: it holds that movement towards one's own task sustains a person, while a long departure from it tells on their health over time.

In this system the year of birth is responsible for several things at once: for the future incarnation and for what a person will bring into it; for the natural ebbing of strength towards the end of life; for the bond with the lineage, the homeland and the people; for the attitude to one's work; and for the mental field level.

It is the last of these that is calculated here. The calculation is simple: add up all the digits of the year. For 2020 that gives 2 + 0 + 2 + 0 = 4 — four points.

The number then falls into one of three ranges: 1–3, 4–6 or 7–9. Each is read in its own way and says which experience a person should lean on — the experience already accumulated, or the experience still to be gathered.

The last digit of the year of birth is taken — as it stands, with no reduction. There are ten possibilities, from zero to nine.

Each digit corresponds to a planet: 0 — Pluto, 1 — Sun, 2 — Moon, 3 — Jupiter, 4 — Uranus, 5 — Mercury, 6 — Venus, 7 — Neptune, 8 — Saturn, 9 — Mars.

It is worth reading it on two levels. The first — the planet itself and the set of traits that goes with it. The second — which of the two classes the sign belongs to: 0, 1, 4, 5 and 8 the system calls masculine, and 2, 3, 6, 7 and 9 — feminine. These are names of groups, not a statement about a person's sex: both men and women are born under every digit.

The month is responsible for youth — for what has to be gone through in the first nine years — and for the present incarnation as a whole. Where the day speaks of the past, the month speaks of what is happening now.

It is also responsible for ties with people: how a person relates to others and how they build relationships. And for the lineage — on entering their month, a person takes up a particular place within the lineage.

The system distinguishes three kinds of karma. Personal karma was accrued by the person themselves in a past life. Family karma — by them too, but in relation to those close to them. Lineage karma is worked off only by descendants, and as a rule a generation on: a person deals with what a grandfather and a grandmother left behind, and their children — with what the parents left. There are exceptions.

The task within the lineage is precisely that lineage part. Its point is not guilt for one's ancestors, but that whoever moves into a house takes on the state it is in: the sorting out falls to the one who lives there.

One point stands apart: another person's karma cannot be affected. Even when someone is being pushed towards what is wrong, they answer for it themselves — and for that same reason they themselves can put a stop to it.

The year, read through the arcana, describes maturity: the task for the future, the attitude to one's own health, and the goal a person came for. What is examined here is the part of it that shows the drive — how strongly a person is pulled towards changing the state of things.

The year is split into two blocks of two digits each. The first — the beginning of the year: 19 or 20. The second — the last two digits; no reduction is performed, but if the result is greater than 22, 22 is subtracted from the number as many times as needed to arrive at an arcanum from 1 to 22.

The first block is responsible for the task towards the country and the people. The relation between the blocks sets the vector: the second greater than the first — the vector points up; the first greater than the second — down; equal — a point of balance, from which both directions are equally possible.

The obstacle point is built differently from the other calculations, and that is important to understand before reading its interpretation.

In this system TP is the entrance to the best part of a person's karma: behind it stand their real talent and their strongest character trait. But the approach to it is blocked — by doubt, by the fear of doing it wrong, by the sense that in this particular matter one is weaker than others. That is exactly why a step that would come easily goes untaken for years.
