How the 60-year cycle works
The calendar rests on the classical system of cycles: ten heavenly stems — the five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) in their yang and yin forms — combine with twelve earthly branches, the zodiac signs from the Rat to the Pig. A full round of combinations, the sexagenary cycle, takes 60 steps, so year codes repeat once every 60 years and day codes every 60 days. Planning by energy cycles is a practical Su Jok skill: it suggests when the energy of the moment supports what you have in mind and when it is better to choose another day.
