Arcanum five needs an elder. Someone to learn from and to check oneself against — inside the family or outside it.
This is neither weakness nor immaturity: such a person is usually level-headed and deep in their own right, but they open up only where there is someone to talk to as an equal about difficult things. Without that interlocutor they close down and spend years stewing in their own conclusions.
The main danger of the zone lies in the same place. A need for a teacher leads easily to whoever passes himself off as a teacher — and the stronger the need, the less a person checks. It is worth looking at what someone has actually done and at what became of their other students, rather than at their words.
In time, arcanum five becomes the mentor it was looking for.
