The obstacle shows up as a dislike of the weak. Someone else's helplessness, their tears, their inability to cope produce not sympathy but a dull irritation that is a source of shame afterwards.
What it blocks is the capacity to care. Behind this point is a person who can support others as few can; the irritation is set exactly in front of that gift, so that it never gets used.
What to do: help before the judgement forms. Do not work out whether the person deserves help — here that is the obstacle itself, speaking in your voice.
A sign that it is receding: another person's weakness stops feeling like a claim made against you.
