Overview
Nowadays, long trips abroad are not uncommon, and some people want to move abroad permanently. When the querent is interested in questions of this kind, the 'Travel Abroad' spread can be used. It covers all key aspects of relocation: from the very possibility of the trip and overcoming obstacles to housing, work, finances, and the prospect of permanent residence. The spread is from the book 'Rider-Waite Tarot: Theory and Practice'.
Card Positions
How to Read
Shuffle the deck while focusing on the question about traveling abroad. Choose a significator card and place it at position S. Then draw 10 cards and lay them out diagonally from top to bottom in a staircase pattern: card 1 -- upper left corner, then pairs of cards stepping down and to the right: S and 2, then 6 and 3, then 7 and 4, then 8 and 5, and finally 9 and 10 in the lower right corner. Read the spread from top to bottom -- from the beginning of the trip to its long-term consequences.
Tips & Advice
The spread is laid out as a journey -- from decision to result. The first cards (1-3) show the immediate prospects: whether the trip will happen and how it will go. The middle cards (4-6) reveal the first months of life abroad -- housing and work. Cards 7-8 show difficulties and finances -- the practical side of relocation. The final cards 9 and 10 answer the main question: whether this is a temporary trip or the beginning of a new life. Pay attention to card 7 (obstacles abroad) -- it often points to the most painful adaptation issue. If card 6 (work) is negative but 8 (finances) is positive -- the source of income may be unexpected.
