The May task is to work through the female line of the lineage: the mothers, the grandmothers and what runs down it.
Here it is about coldness and about what was not given: care that was absent, sharpness instead of support, an unfaithfulness that broke the family apart. A May person feels this lack on themselves long before they learn its causes.
The relationship with the mother is almost always difficult, and that is part of the task, not its failure. What has to be worked through is not the mother but what came to her in her turn and what she did not choose.
The task is fulfilled by care — real and everyday — and by the person not carrying the shortage further, on to their own children.
