The thirteenth arcanum is the heaviest on the list. A life taken: murder, driving someone to their death, a death brought about by somebody's ill will or by deliberate inaction.
In the lineage it reads as a fear of death that arrives before there is any occasion for it, and as recurring early losses that the family does not speak about. There is often a story it is "not done to bring up", and it is precisely around that story that the silence of several generations holds.
The working-off points in the opposite direction: to preserve life. Caring for the seriously ill, helping those who cannot cope, taking part where someone's outcome depends on that part. And to bring back into the family the conversation that was kept silent — not in order to sit in judgement over an ancestor, but in order to stop carrying it blindly.
