The twenty-first task is the opposite of the twentieth. It turns the person outward: towards other countries, languages and cultures.

The point is not moving abroad as such, but exchange. Someone with this task has to master what is foreign and bring it here, and to carry what is their own over there. That is why language here is not a formality: without it the task is not carried out, whatever the level reached.

Professionally this takes in everything international — from work with foreign partners to translation, teaching and cultural exchange.

The task is carried out when, thanks to this person, two worlds have come to know more about each other than they knew before.

Social task — purpose and profession

Social task = DT + MT + GT

The social task is what, in this system, a person came for. Not a post and not a profession in itself, but the direction in which their effort has meaning.

What matters here is the movement itself. As long as a person is moving towards their task, they are collected and engaged; a halt is felt as the loss of a footing, even when everything looks well from the outside.

The system notes two dead ends. The first — when a person has gone so far from the task that the earlier plan has stopped working and life effectively begins again, often in an entirely different field. The second — when the goal has been reached and the person decides there is nowhere further to go; by this logic what was achieved was a step, not a summit.

DT, MT and GT are steps towards that same task, and there is no need to pass through them in order: one can concentrate on the task directly. The task is most easily carried out through a profession — but it does not reduce to one.

The system connects a person's physical well-being to this as well: it holds that movement towards one's own task sustains a person, while a long departure from it tells on their health over time.

*This is a tenet of the teaching, not a medical claim. The causes of ill health are established by a doctor, and the calculation does not suggest putting off seeing one.*
